The Sheepman is a 1958 US western comedy film. It features Glenn Ford, Shirley MacLaine, Leslie Nielsen, and Mickey Shaughnessy. A brash stranger and his sheep arrive in a small town, but not soon after, the townspeople decide they've seen enough of him.
The Sheepman makes full use of her youthful radiance and beauty, and we are treated to countless close-ups of her beaming, adorable face. I certainly wasn’t complaining about that aspect of the film, but it was a shame to realise that MacLaine was being forced to carry most scenes with her natural effervescent charm.
If there’s one word in Powder Valley’s cattle country that makes the locals’ jaws clench and trigger-fingers twitch, here it is: sheep.
