Because of his father’s job in the oil business, which required him to follow the new oil fields as they developed, the family moved around quite a bit as Marc was growing up.

Davis died in January 2000, at the age of 86. Shortly following his death, the Marc Fraser Davis Scholarship Fund was formally established at the California Institute of the Arts.
