Frances Jane van Alstyne, connue sous le nom de Fanny Crosby, née le 24 mars 1820 et morte le 12 février 1915, est une missionnaire américaine, poète, parolière et compositrice d'hymnes religieux. Elle a été l'une des plus prolifiques hymnistes de l'histoire avec près de 8 000 hymnes et chants de gospel à son actif [1] bien qu'elle soit aveugle depuis son enfance [2].
Fanny Crosby begann bereits im Alter von acht Jahren, Gedichte zu verfassen. 1844 wurde ihre erste Gedichtsammlung mit dem Titel A Blind Girl and Other Poems (Ein blindes Mädchen und andere Gedichte) veröffentlicht.
