At heart, this is a rather tender film, as Maclaine’s character works resourcefully to live hidden away in one of the towers, with moments of both pathos and gentle comedy.

It’s been over a year since I read that first book, but I was yet again surprised by Carey’s ability to balance science with story and to let us into the minds of our characters. Summary.
