Suleyman the Magnificent. The only son of Selim I, Suleyman I was born on November 6th 1494 in Trabzon (on the Black Sea coast of modern Turkey ). It reached the height of its power between the 1480s and the 1560s, a period known as the Golden Age. The last sultan to rule during this time was Süleyman I, or Süleyman the Magnificent. He was in power from 1520 until 1566.
