Emmanuel College, Vazhichal was founded by a group of daring young priests who had lofty dreams on behalf of the common people of this region. They took a great leap into the unknown hoping to obtain for their brothers and sisters, the knowledge of the most advanced developments in modern science and technology, which was once considered beyond their reach.
History of the College. Emmanuel College was founded by Sir Walter Mildmay, chancellor of the exchequer to Queen Elizabeth I, on the site of a thirteenth-century Dominican Priory. It admitted its first students in November 1584, and by April 1585 there were more than 25 undergraduates in residence.
