John Ford (født 1. februar 1894, død 31. august 1973) var en amerikansk filminstruktør og berømt for westernfilm som f.eks. Fittingly, John Ford was the first recipient of the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1973. President Nixon attended the ceremony and bestowed the nation’s highest civilian honor on the ailing director, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Several months later, John Ford succumbed to stomach cancer at age 79.
