Mary Jane Godwin (née de Vial; pseudonymed Mary Jane Clairmont; 1768 – 17 June 1841) was an English author, publisher, and bookseller. She was the second wife of William Godwin and stepmother to Mary Shelley.

Mary Jane Godwin fue una mujer criolla que nació en Jamaica en 1801. Era la hija de un mercader inglés y una mujer de ascendencia africana y española. Con solo 19 años de edad, se mudó a Londres para trabajar como institutriz y allí conoció al poeta Percy Bysshe Shelley, quien se enamoró de ella y pronto la convirtió en su amante.
