4 de ene. de 2022 · The Gospel of John records a remarkable event, as Jesus heals a man who had been born blind. In John’s retelling, one of the statements Jesus makes is that “we must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work” (John 9:4).
We must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. Aramaic Bible in Plain English. “It is fitting that I do the works of him who has sent me while it is day; the night is coming in which a man cannot work.”. Contemporary English Version.
The day was the most effective time to work, but it is also a limited time. As used by Christ here, "day" refers to the time left for Jesus to serve God's will on earth. "Night" refers to the rapidly-approaching time when Jesus will die, ending His earthly work.
Night Is Day is a 2012 independent feature film shot in Glasgow, Scotland. It follows the adventures of Jason Mackenzie, a 20-something year old superpowered vigilante with the power of lightning and the gift of foresight.
In the one, life is the day, and the state beyond death the night; in the other, life is the night, and the state beyond death the day. Remarkable as the contrast is, it comes to be still more so if we remember the respective speakers.
4 de dic. de 2013 · So for each individual follower of Jesus, “night” is the time when we are no longer free or able to be active in ministry. It can certainly describe our death, but it could also refer to times of persecution, imprisonment, or incapacity due to illness or accidents.
