Edwin Janss Gregson (August 7, 1938 – June 4, 2000) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. He was the trainer of Gato Del Sol who won the 1982 Kentucky Derby . He died on June 4, 2000, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. [2]

Director Emeritus. This Hall of Fame jockey has made the transition from riding star to bloodstock agent. Learning about pedigrees and attending sales, he remains in touch with the sport buying and consulting, as well as being a minor owner and breeder.
PURPOSE. In 1998, the California Thoroughbred Trainers (CTT) Board established a nonprofit foundation in ongoing efforts to develop programs to benefit and enhance the quality of life of California thoroughbred horse racing's backstretch workers and their families.
