Charles Carow (October 4, 1825 – March 18, 1883) was an American merchant and shipowner who was the father of first lady of the United States Edith Carow Roosevelt.
When Charles Carow was born on 4 October 1825, in New York City, New York, United States, his father, Isaac Quentin Carow, was 47 and his mother, Elizabeth Mowatt, was 42. He married Gertrude Elizabeth Tyler on 6 June 1859, in Norwich, New London, Connecticut, United States.
Charles Carow was a shipping merchant and owned a shipping line with Robert Kermit. It was Robert Kermit (born in New York September 4, 1794), son of Captain Henry Kermit and Elizabeth Ferguson, who placed the order for the construction of the full rigged sailing vessel West Point.
