Volcano is the second solo album (fourth album overall) by American singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, released in 2003. The album sold about 21,000 copies as of November 2003.
14 de oct. de 2003 · Volcano dabbles in pseudo-edgy rock (“I’ll Be Surprised”) but it’s primarily a disc of gentle melodies and flowing, meandering imagery. “Take A Walk” recalls the slowed-down pace of a lazy Sunday afternoon, evoking the reverie of “Feeling Groovy” by Paul Simon, her husband of more than a decade.

Charles Wayne Sexton (born August 11, 1968) is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. Sexton is best known for his years as a guitarist in Bob Dylan's band, though also has become well known as a music producer. Sexton co-founded Arc Angels and created the Charlie Sexton Sextet.
Brickell started work on the album during her 2003 tour supporting Volcano. According to Brickell, "The first three songs for the solo album were recorded on a day off during the tour. They were all new songs and I wanted to record them while they were fresh and we were feeling them.

Since leaving Dylan's band, Sexton has produced numerous other works, including Edie Brickell's Volcano (2003), Jon Dee Graham's Great Battle (2004), Shannon McNally's Geronimo (2005), and Los Super Seven's Heard It on the X (2005).
