The Father of the Girl is all about a star-struck lass from rural France who takes a job as the secretary to a glamorous actress. When her parents come to the big city, the girl is beside herself: she’s been claiming in her letters that she’s become a show-business success.
Françoise Marinier, a strong-willed young woman, won’t accept a husband being forced on her. She left her family and moved to Paris, where she found work as a secretary for a fashionable artist, Edith Mars. The understanding Edith Mars encourages Françoise’s budding love affair with an embassy attaché.
