La serie se divide en Los nibelungos: la muerte de Sigfrido (Die Nibelungen: Siegfried) y Los nibelungos: la venganza de Krimilda (Die Nibelungen: Kriemhilds Rache). Ambas fueron escritas por Lang y su esposa Thea von Harbou.
