Nawwaf bin Nuri Al Sha'alan (Arabic: نواف بن نوري الشعلان, romanized: Nawwaf bin Nouri as-Shaalan; 1883–1921) was the son of the paramount chief of the Ruwallah, Nuri bin Hazaa Al Shalaan, and governor of Al Jawf from 1909 to 1919, when it was re-captured by the Emirate of Jabal Shammar.
Nuri bin Hazaa Al Shalaan (Arabic: نوري بن هزاع الشعلان, romanized: Nuri ibn Hazaa as-Shaalan; 1847–1942) was the chieftain of Ruwallah tribe settled in northern Arabia and the Syrian Desert. He headed the tribe between 1904 and 1942 and developed alliances with various ruling forces in the region.
His father is King Abdulaziz, and his mother is Nouf bint Nawwaf bin Nuri Al Shaalan. They married in November 1935. Nouf was a member of the Ruwala tribe based in the northwestern Saudi Arabia, Transjordan and Syria and was the granddaughter of Nuri Al Shalaan, Emir of the tribe.
After the death of Nawwaf ibn Nuri, Amir Nuri as-Sha’lan gave al-Jauf to ibn Sa'ud and based himself in Syria, as related by Raswan (see above). He offered al-Jauf to ibn Sa'ud and retired in Syria where he and his tribesmen had assets.
