Biografía. El director de cine chino Chen Kaige se unió a la Academia de Cine de Beijing, donde se graduó en 1982 como parte de la llamada Quinta Generación de cineastas chinos. Al graduarse, Chen fue asignado al Estudio de Cine de Guangxi, junto con un compañero graduado, Zhang Yimou.
