The Bumblies started out in 1964 and reformed in 2009. In 1966 they changed their name to The Cryin Shames and had a hit record with Please Stay.
13 x 10 minute episodes. Michael Bentine’s Bumblies came from the planet Bumble and resembled large pears. The star of the show was the hard-of-thinking Bumblie number three, a creation in the mould of Eccles from The Goon Show.
His first appearances on television were as presenter on a 13-part children's series featuring remote controlled puppets, The Bumblies, which he also devised, designed and wrote.
