Fountas attended the Dramatic School at the Athens Odeum. He appeared for the first time in the theatre in Nyfiatiko tragoudi ("Bridal Song") and his first film in 1944.
Ο Γιώργος Φούντας ( Μαυρολιθάρι Φωκίδας, 3 Ιουνίου 1924 – Αθήνα, 28 Νοεμβρίου 2010) ήταν 'Έλληνας ηθοποιός από τους σημαντικότερους του κινηματογράφου, του θεάτρου και της τηλεόρασης, γνωστός εκτός άλλων και για τον ρόλο του στην ταινία Στέλλα (1955) του Μιχάλη Κακογιάννη. [1] .
