David Jeremiah Barron (born July 7, 1967) is an American lawyer who serves as the Chief United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and former S. William Green Professor of Public Law at Harvard Law School.
David J. Barron. Chief Judge Barron was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in May 2014. He became Chief Circuit Judge in 2022. He graduated from Harvard College in 1989 and Harvard Law School in 1994.
Judge Barron continues to teach at Harvard Law School as the Louis D. Brandeis Visiting Professor of Law. Among his publications are City Bound, with Jerry Frug, and Waging War, which won the 2017 Colby Award.

On September 24, 2013, President Obama nominated David J. Barron to the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. When confirmed, he will serve in the seat vacated by Michael Boudin, who took senior status on June 1, 2013. David Barron is currently the S. William Green Professor of Public Law at Harvard Law School.
