Chandramukhi Basu (1860 – 3 February 1944), a Bengali from Dehradun, which was located in the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh ), was one of the first two female graduates of the British India. In 1882, along with Kadambini Ganguly, she passed the examination of the bachelor's degree in arts ( BA) from University of Calcutta.
The family was from Chandsi, in Barisal which is now in Bangladesh. Her father was headmaster of Bhagalpur School. He and Abhay Charan Mallick started the movement for women's emancipation at Bhagalpur, establishing the women's organization Bhagalpur Mahila Samiti in 1863, the first in India.

18 de jul. de 2019 · Kadambini Ganguly was one of the first female graduates in the entire British Empire (along with Chandramukhi Bose) and became the first female practitioner of western medicine not just in India, but in the whole of South Asia.
In 1882, along with Kadambini Ganguly, Chandramukhi Basu passed the examination of the bachelor’s degree in arts from the University of Calcutta. They were India’s first women graduates.

She also went on to become one of the first female doctors of the country who were certified to practise western medicine.
