Jacob Theodor Klein (apodo Plinius Gedanensium; 15 de agosto de 1685 - 27 de febrero de 1759) fue un jurista, historiador, botánico, matemático y diplomático prusiano al servicio del rey polaco Augusto II el Fuerte.

Jacob Theodor Klein was a German botanist, zoologist and historian whose works dealt with matters of zoological nomenclature, and he set up his own system of classification of animals, which was based on the number, shape, and position of the limbs.

In 1718 Jacob Theodor Klein acquired a sizeable piece of land in the Langgarten section of Danzig and, with the aid of other scholars and collectors with whom he had become acquainted during his travels, established a notable botanical garden there. It also housed some live animals.
