The Allison Prop Jet Convair, or CV580, is a two engine, low wing medium-range commercial transport. Originally, manufactured by Convair as a CV340 or CV440, and then converted to prop–jet power by the Allison Division of General Motors Corporation through Canadian STC SA00-140, or FAA STC SA4-1100.
17 de may. de 2019 · In October 2004 Air Freight (NZ) took delivery of a Convair 5800, the stretched variant of the Model CV-580. This machine ZK-KFS (c/n 277 – ex C-FKFS) joined a number of Model CV-580s with that company, but was exported to Canada in early 2016.
The most popular Convair conversions were those done by PacAero in California for Allison, and this involved converting 340s and 440s to 580s with Allison 501D turboprops, plus modified tail control surfaces and a larger tail area.
