Frederick Childe Hassam ( Boston 1859 - 1935) fue un pintor impresionista estadounidense. En 1886 viajó a París para estudiar arte en la Académie Julian (1886-1889). Tuvo como maestros a Gustave Boulanger y Jules Joseph Lefebvre. Hassam regresó a Estados Unidos en 1889, residiendo en Nueva York.

Childe Hassam (1859–1935), a pioneer of American Impressionism and perhaps its most devoted, prolific, and successful practitioner, was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts (now a suburb of Boston), into a family descended from settlers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Today he is best known for his exuberant portrayals of Celia Thaxter's old-fashioned garden on Appledore Island, Maine, and his depictions of the flags, banners, and bunting displayed on New York's tall buildings in patriotic response to World War I.
