Chris Drury is an environmental artist whose monumental works draw connections between the natural landscape and the mark of humanity. For each work, Drury researches the site and its context, and uses local materials and the contours of the land to tell visual stories about our relationship to the natural world.
The building of symbolic shelters out of found materials — from stone, wood and mud to reeds, turf and ice blocks — were among Mr. Drury’s first land art constructions.
I am an environmental artist, making site specific nature based sculpture, often referred to as Land Art or Art in Nature. I also work in art and Science. I make installations inside and make works on paper, works with maps, digital and video art, and works with mushrooms.
Chris Drury (born 1948) is a British environmental artist. His body of work includes ephemeral assemblies of natural materials, land art in the mode associated with Andy Goldsworthy, as well as more permanent landscape art, works on paper and indoor installations.
