British punk/post-punk/new wave band formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. They were incorrectly named Stiff Kittens (2) on the flyer for their first gig alongside Buzzcocks and Penetration but announced themselves as Warsaw (3) at the start of their first performance.

discography. An Ideal for Living. Joy Division’s debut EP released in 1978. All tracks were recorded at Pennine Sound Studios, Oldham, on 14 December 1977. A 7" version was released in June on the band's own Enigma Records label (1000 copies), followed by a 12" version on 10 October on the band's Anonymous Records label (1200 copies).
