It first appeared in Galaxy Magazine—illustrated by John Giunta—in August 1965, under the title "Do I Wake or Dream?", but was published in book form as Destination: Void the following year.

Sinopsis. Herbert, el gran creador de DUNE, ya afrontó el tema de la inteligencia artificial en 1965 con esta novela precursora. En la reedición de 1978 tuvo la oportunidad de revisarla completamente actualizando sus supuestos técnicos. La problemática creación de una inteligencia artificial dotada de conciencia.
