Peterhouse will be able to cover the cost of travel for UK applicants who are invited to an in-person interview who are currently in receipt of Free School Meals or who are in care. Other candidates for whom purchasing travel would cause financial hardship are advised to contact the Admissions Office about the possibility of reimbursement.

Peterhouse opened in 1955 under the rectorship of Fred Snell with 55 boys and within five years the number had risen to 360 according to plan. Peterhouse was founded as an Anglican boys’ country boarding school. Its aims were to promote the ideals of Christian manhood, academic excellence and social responsibility.
Peterhouse was actually known as St Peter’s College until late in the nineteenth century, after which (nobody seems sure why), it began to be known as Peterhouse, which had perhaps previously been a pet name.
