Leben. Edward James Begley jr. wurde als unehelicher Sohn des oscarprämierten Schauspielers Ed Begley (1901–1970) in Los Angeles geboren. Dieser war damals noch mit seiner Frau Amanda Huff verheiratet. Allerdings wuchs sein Sohn in Buffalo im Bundesstaat New York auf und besuchte die „Stella Niagara Education Park Cadet School“ in Lewiston.
