His last album, Oscar Levant at the Piano, was recorded in the same period but not released by Columbia until 1961. On 2 August 1958 came his final public appearance in concert. Although he attempted to cancel part-way through the Gershwin Concerto, while actually onstage, Levant was kept in motion by conductor André Kostelanetz.
