Joseph Carey Merrick (5 août 1862 à Leicester, Angleterre - 11 avril 1890 à Whitechapel, Londres) est un Britannique présenté comme phénomène de foire sous le surnom d'« Elephant Man » (« l'homme éléphant »). Il vécut en Angleterre pendant l'ère victorienne.Il était connu en raison de la difformité extrême de son corps et fut un cas étudié par la médecine britannique.

16 de mar. de 2024 · Jo Vigor-Mungovin, author of Joseph: The Life, Times & Places of the Elephant Man, claimed to have discovered the location of his burial in be an unmarked grave in the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium. She said that the story of Merrick’s soft tissue being buried had not been proven because of the number of graveyards at the time.
