They prosper so well, men soon arrive in town representing clients who want to buy the house from McCabe outright, and their clients are men who would rather put a bullet in someone than take no for an answer, people who make offers which cannot be refused, in the true "Godfather" sense of the expression.
Background. McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) was iconoclastic and offbeat director Robert Altman's acclaimed revisionist western (or "anti-western" according to some) about the American frontier. It was the first of his two myth-busting westerns (the second was Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976) ).
