Russian theatre director and stage designer Theodore Komisarjevsky (1882-1954) came to England in 1919. He established himself as a skilled and often controversial director, introducing British audiences to the plays of Russian dramatists and staging unconventional productions of Shakespeare at Stratford-upon-Avon.
28 de dic. de 2022 · Possibly influenced by Theodore Komisarjevsky, in 1927 he formed Sloane Productions in partnership with Arnold Bennett and leased the Royal Court Theatre. Although they enjoyed some success with the staging of Mr. Bennett’s play, Mr. Prohack, based on his novel, the venture ended in 1928, as it proved not to be a financial success.
