However, her parents, Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Robert "Sargent" Shriver Jr., were just as influential as their famous daughter.

Robert Sargent Shriver Jr. (November 9, 1915 – January 18, 2011) was an American diplomat, politician, and activist. As the husband of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, he was part of the Kennedy family.Shriver was the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, and founded the Job Corps, Head Start, VISTA, Upward Bound, and other programs as the architect of the 1960s War on Poverty.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver was born in Brookline, MA at her family’s second home, just several blocks away from the JFK Birthplace. Eunice began her education in the Public Schools of Brookline and later graduated from Stanford University. She had strong political instincts and played pivotal roles in the campaigns of her brothers Jack, Bobby, and Ted, and husband, Sargent Shriver.
