On Hands and Knees. To further demonstrate Fish's strange behavior, Dempsey called to the stand a woman who had received several obscene letters from Albert Fish. The courtroom was cleared of women as Dempsey read the obscene correspondence. Another defense witness was Mary Nicholas, Fish's 17-year-old stepdaughter.

Al processo si dichiarò insano di mente e insistette che aveva agito per ordine di Dio. La seguente lettera fu inviata ai genitori di Grace Budd il 12 novembre 1934.
