Philip David Zelikow ( ˈzɛlɪkoʊ; born 21 September 1954) is an American diplomat and international relations scholar. He has worked as the executive director of the 9/11 Commission, director of the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia, and counselor of the United States Department of State.
Philip Zelikow is the Botha-Chan Senior Fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. For 25 years he held a chaired professorship in history at the University of Virginia. For seven years before that, he was an associate professor at Harvard University.
Philip D. Zelikow is the White Burkett Miller Professor of History at the University of Virginia. He was appointed Counselor of the U.S. Department of State from February 2005 through December 2006, where he served as a senior policy advisor on a wide range of issues to the Secretary of State.
