Sam Warner Samuel Louis “Sam” Warner was an American film producer who was the co-founder and chief executive officer of Warner Bros. Studios. He established the studio along with his brothers Harry, Albert, and Jack Warner. Warner, Sam (1887-1927) Warner Brothers Pictures, Inc. Overview. Samuel Louis Warner founded one of the largest motion picture and entertainment companies in the United States and had a major influence on the course of the U.S. entertainment industry. One of his most celebrated innovations was his 1927 release of the first movie with sound, The Jazz Singer, in spite of skepticism from his peers.
The studio's predecessor (and the modern-day Warner Bros Entertainment as a whole) was founded as the Warner Features Company in New Castle, Pennsylvania, by filmmaker Sam Warner and his business partners and brothers, Harry, Albert, and Jack, in 1911. They produced their first film, the Peril of the Plains in 1912, which Sam directed for the St. Louis Motion Picture Company.
28 de mar. de 2022 · When Sam was 2 years old, his father moved the family to the U.S., changing their last name to “Warner”. Like his brothers Harry and Jack, Sam eventually acquired an anglicized first name. After trying to get steady work in Maryland (to no avail), Sam’s father moved the family once again, this time to Canada. 2 years later, they were back in the U.S., eventually settling in Ohio.
There were nine children in this Polish immigrant family, but only four were active in the business: Harry, the eldest (1881–1958), born in Poland; Albert (1883–1967), born in Baltimore; Sam (1884–1927), and Jack, born in London, Ontario (1892–1978). As their enterprise prospered, the brothers opened more theaters.
