In 2017, the Tesla logo changed. The logo was simplified and modernized, dropping the shield and replacing the plain sans-serif wordmark with a characterized display font. The secret behind the Tesla logo came to the forefront in this logo evolution. The “T” in the logo is, in fact, meant to represent a cross-section of an electric motor.
The Tesla Motors logo consists of two lines with different meanings. The horizontal line represents a stator section, and the vertical one extends from the motor’s rotor. While for SpaceX, the logo’s stylized X portrays the trajectory of a rocket launched into space. The custom font for the logo was designed by Dies.

La evolución del logo de Tesla. Al principio, la primera versión del logo de Tesla tenía un escudo detrás de la T. Las letras eran negras mientras que el escudo era de plata para que resaltaran. Sin embargo, el logo como tal no duró mucho y años después decidieron prescindir del escudo dejando todo el protagonismo a la propia T.
