It was attended by the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Leonid Brezhnev, and IOC President Lord Killanin.

On the screen of an artistic background made of colored shields on the podium under the Olympic bowl, an image of an Olympic Bear appeared and the words: "Have a good trip!"
