Lieutenant-General Sir Sydney Turing Barlow Lawford, KCB (16 November 1865 – 15 February 1953), was a decorated British general, later to become the father of Hollywood actor Peter Lawford.

Sir Sydney Turing Barlow Lawford, KCB (16 November 1865 – 15 February 1953) was a British Army officer, and the father of movie star Peter Lawford. He was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England.
He was, of course, the son of Lieutenant-General Sir Sydney Lawford (‘Swanky Syd’) (1865-1953), the only man to command 41 st Division during the Great War, and a fine soldier. Sydney Turing Barlow Lawford was born in Tunbridge Wells on 16th Nov 1865. He served in the Royal Fusiliers in the Boer War with the rank of captain and reached the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel. He was a Major-General in World War One, commanding the 22nd Brigade and then the 41st Division.
As GOC of 41st Div, Major General Lawford signed a commendation for gallantry to my grandfather, Cpl Gordon McKendrick of 26 Bn Royal Fusiliers for his leadership of a lewis gun section in an action on 30 Sep 1918. Created by: Andrew130139
