Mit seiner Entwicklung der Z3 im Jahre 1941 baute Zuse den ersten funktionstüchtigen, vollautomatischen, programmgesteuerten und frei programmierbaren, in binärer Gleitkommarechnung arbeitenden Rechner und somit den ersten funktionsfähigen Computer der Welt.
