Idle Hands and Summer of Sam are basically fun punk movies, lotta deaths but no ODs that I remember. I’d suggest Trainspotting except for your pesky no OD rule (and poor baby Dawn). Glory Daze is hilarious if you want to see how mainstream pop punk was in the mid-‘90s but it is unmistakably a crapfest.

The film follows a dedicated group of punks that suffer the misfortune of being raised in mid-80’s Utah. Loosely based on people from director James Merendino’s past, the characters are well rounded and inherently likeable.
