The ending is pretty nonsensical but also the ending is the least interesting part of the movie. It almost doesn't matter -- the journey is the meaningful part. A lot of great movies are like this. The ending is just where you leave the story because it's a movie and it has to end; most of the meaning comes before that. 2.
Be aware that the Final Cut version (now $12.99, with ATL of $4.99) includes both the original and Redux versions (and all the other extras). Not sure if this is the same for this purchase, Redux, and if it includes the two other versions.
