13 de jun. de 2024 · An inventory exists of the furnishings in 1766 when the house was occupied by Sir Henry Bridgeman, nephew of the fourth Earl of Bradford and himself later the first Baron Bradford. In the hall, where a 'Slate for Messages' was hung, stood a sedan-chair and poles.
Hace 3 días · He sold Great Lever and the adjoining estates to Bishop Bridgeman in 1629, and the manor has descended to the present Earl of Bradford. Bishop Bridgeman, of whom an account will be found among the rectors of Wigan, resided at Great Lever after his purchase, rebuilding the hall and domestic chapel.
