Written by John Taylor the Water Poet, these pamphlets appropriate the invective of the Marprelate tracts, giving Nashe’s ghost a physical presence on the page as a way of responding to mid-seventeenth-century religious and political anxieties.

Hace 2 días · It was the title of a notorious satirical play of 'very seditious and slandrous' content, written by Thomas Nashe in collaboration with Ben Jonson and others, and performed at the Swan Theatre by the Earl of Pembroke's Men in 1597. Now lost, the play was outrageous enough to lead to Jonson's imprisonment and Nashe's fleeing London.

  6. 29 de jun. de 2024 · Thomas Nashe , born 1567 in Lowestoft , died circa 1601, was quite an interesting person. He was an Elizabethan playwright, pamphleteer and satirist amongst other endeavours. On graduating from St Johns college, Cambridge, he moved to London to begin his literary career.
