Known for his big, warm, sound, “The Sugar Man" or the original “Mr. T" found inspiration in the blues and turned it into a hugely successful career with a #1 hit and four Grammy nominations — first in R&B and then in jazz.

Hace 5 días · Stanley Turrentine – “Sugar”. Saxophonist Stanley Turrentine was born on this day (April 5) in 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A leading figure in the soul-jazz movement, Turrentine recorded the album Sugar for CTI Records in 1970, following a long association with Blue Note.
