Harold "Harry" Wormwood, also known as Mr. Wormwood, is the secondary antagonist of the 1988 Roald Dahl novel Matilda, and all of it's adaptations. He is the owner of Wormwood Motors, the husband of Zinnia Wormwood, and the father of Michael Wormwood.
Harry was a used car salesman who ran Wormwood Motors, which sold used cars for more than what they were worth (especially since they were defunct and quite broken) while also dealing in stolen car parts. He is the husband of Mrs. Wormwood, with whom he had two children, Michael and Matilda.
Mr. Wormwood is Matilda’s father and the secondary antagonist in the story. He is a deceitful, dishonest used car salesman and a neglectful father. He hates books and learning and seems opposed to education of any sort.

Mr. Wormwood Character Analysis. One of the novel’s antagonists, Mr. Wormwood is Matilda and Michael ’s father, and Mrs. Wormwood ’s husband. He’s a small, ratty man, with luscious black hair. He always wears suits with loud plaid prints to his job as a used car salesman.
The bottom line is that Mr. Wormwood is "[a] cheat and a liar" (5.36). As a secondhand car salesman, he only sells used cars, which gives him the opportunity to mess with each one, and lie about his products.
Summary: Chapter 2: Mr. Wormwood, the Great Car Dealer Matilda lives in a nice home, since Mr. Wormwood is a successful used car salesman. During dinner, her father tells Matilda and Michael about the tricks that he uses to sell cars.
