25 de ago. de 2023 · Jimmy Rowles was the dean of West Coast jazz pianists. Not only was he a tasty favorite of jazz giants in Los Angeles in the 1940s, including Lee and Lester Young, he was a preeminent recording studio pianist with Swing Era bandleaders, top jazz recording artists and leading vocalists.
It was this last Evans trio that will be compared most often to his first with bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian. _Getting Sentimental_, both technically and artistically, is an aberration of the starlight clarity and inventiveness of Evans' other recorded trio accomplishments.
