Bishop Thomas Grant School is a voluntary aided school in the trusteeship of the Archdiocese of Southwark. The school is conducted by its governing body as part of the Catholic Church and seeks at all times to be a witness to Jesus Christ. The school seeks primarily to serve the Catholic community.
In August 2018, Bishop Campbell and the diocese were named in a $2 million lawsuit by Kevin Heidtman, a former student at St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus. Heidtman alleged that he was sexually molested on at least six occasions at the school by Reverend Thomas Bennett between 2002 and 2003. Bennett died in 2008.
