En 1995 Stradlin comenzó a grabar material para su segundo álbum en solitario, 117°. Lanzado en marzo de 1998, el álbum fue grabado en breves sesiones durante un período de dos años y contó con sus excompañeros de banda Duff McKagan y Rick Richards, así como con el exbaterista Taz Bentley.
