Kenny Werner (born November 19, 1951) is an American jazz pianist, composer, and author.
She is a scholar of Sheila Jordan and of Jeanne Lee. For her album Woman's Work, she researched music by women composers. Her own compositions have been played on stages in New York City and Europe. She has collaborated with Mal Waldron, Kenny Werner, and Bill Frisell.
Werner wrote the large-scale work for voice, choir, wind ensemble, saxophone and jazz rhythm section and used his close friends—saxophonist Joe Lovano and his wife singer Judi Silvano—as pivotal voices in the music’s production.
Contributing are Kenny Werner and Salvatore Bonafede on piano, Scott Lee on bass, Jeff Hirshfield on drums, Tim Hagans on trumpet, Joe Lovano on sax, plus vocalists Val Hawk, Holly Durniak and Spencer Macleish in Judi’s “Voices of Juniper” arrangements.
